| Colour German Pinschers have a glossy coat that comes in red, stag red, fawn, blue with tan markings and black with tan markings. Black with tan markings is the most common colouration however. |

| History The German Pinscher was officially recognised as a breed in Germany in 1879. Developed as a vermin hunter for farms, it has contributed to the development of a number of other breeds, including the Dobermann, Miniature Pinscher and Schnauzer. |

| Positives The German Pinscher is an excellent watchdog and a good companion in households where they are firmly disciplined and properly trained. |
